Massage on the Mind
In an ideal world we would have perfect bodies, able to refresh and renew every cell without any problems. The reality is that there are various factors in life which can cause physical or mental imbalances. If the body is left in state of imbalance, and we choose not to take care of ourselves, this can lead to debilitating conditions and illness.
Massage therapy has been practised for centuries as a way of treating pain, restoring health and balancing the energy flow throughout the body. There are many different methods used to manage health conditions or enhance wellness, through the manipulation of soft tissue and muscles with our hands.
Throughout my career, I have always been drawn to the head and face, undertaking various training and career opportunities which lead me to work specifically with facial tension, and learning about the Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) became my passion. Often overlooked, our TMJ is the tiny yet complex joint connecting the skull to the lower jaw. I specialise in treating symptoms associated with TMJ Dysfunction, such as headaches, migraines, neck pain, lockjaw, and tinnitus. There are over fifty muscles in the face and facial tension is often caused by factors such as stress, anxiety, poor posture, previous injuries, and emotional issues, Jaw clenching, teeth grinding and tensing necks and shoulders can affect the muscles surrounding the jaw and lead to inflammation and restrictions of the facial muscles and fascia (connective tissue), resulting in pain and jaw misalignment.
As a holistic practitioner, I am dedicated to understanding the specific needs of the individual. The body and mind are interconnected through a network of cells, systems and organs, therefore I take a whole body approach in my treatments.
Whether you book an appointment to ease chronic pain, or simply wish to relax, I will treat you with knowledge, skill and compassion so that together we can achieve the best results for you from every massage.
